Sheila
"Brock" Katherine Boatman
Sheila Katherine (Brock) Boatman, age 50, of Morrisville, Mo., died
Wednesday, November 15, 2006, in her home after a short illness. Sheila
was preceded in death by her parents, Louis W. and Katie Brock, and two
brothers, Max Mims and Dale Mims. Sheila is survived by her husband,
Dennis Boatman of the home; their son, Brock Boatman of Washington,
D.C., and her sister, Leah Mims Pachl of Willard, Mo. Sheila's love of
life was only matched by her love of animals. As a member of the
Doberman Pincher Club of America, Dexter Cattle Association, American
Quarter Horse Association, Missouri Fox Trot Horse Association, Therapy
Dogs, Inc., and the Brighton Saddle Club, Sheila spread her knowledge
and friendship freely among the people she was around. Her input was
always welcome and appreciated. As a breeder of Doberman Pinchers, her
puppies are enjoyed by people all over America, not only as outstanding
pets, but also as show dogs. Just recently she graciously donated two
wonderful puppies to Guide Dog Program, and we have only heard great
things about them. When these puppies are placed in a home to help
someone, they not only will have the guidance of a wonderful animal, but
also Sheila will be looking out for them. Sheila had ridden Quarter
Horses most of her life, and recently purchased her first Fox Trotter,
Danny Boy. She and "Danny" won several Blue Ribbons, but they were the
most happy on our Wednesday night rides the past summer with friends.
Sheila was a teacher at Kickapoo High School, where she will be missed
by her students. Sheila was in the district program teaching those with
various disabilities, life skills and showing each and everyone of them
love and compassion. Sheila's life was full and varied. Over the past
few years, she had shown several dogs to A.K.C. Companion Dog titles,
two were International Champions, and most recently she was honored by
being nominated for the Award for Canine Excellence in recognition of
dogs in the service of mankind. Her favorite companion dog, Rudy, was
known by so many people for his work with Sheila's students. When he
roamed the halls of school, nursing homes, or hospitals, Sheila was so
proud of him. In Sheila's passing, she leaves a legacy of love,
friendship, compassion, and beauty. She touched many lives and brought
laughter, joy, comfort and friendship to so many people. We have lost a
treasure in Sheila. If all people could be as Sheila, our world would be
a much better place. Memorial services will be held on Saturday,
November 18, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church, 800 AB
Highway, at Willard, Mo., with Rev. Lorraine Dill officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the church.
Burial will be in the Goss Cemetery at Phelps, Mo. Services are under
the direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar. Friends may sign
the guest book or send private condolences at www.butlerfuneralhome.com. |
