Mary K. Penna passed away on January 4, 2008, after a short illness at age 81. She is survived by three sisters, Barbara Jenkins, Gloria Fultz and Sue Fritz; a brother-in-law, Delmer Fritz; her children, Bill, Cathy, Richard, David; three daughters-in-law, Karen, Cindi and Denise. She was blessed with two grandchildren, Lois and Nick, and lived to see her latest great-grandchild Nicole arrive, as well as see her great-grandson Clay grow into a fine young boy. She was ever so proud of her grandchildren and showed it every chance she got. She has one uncle, Bill Huffhines, many nieces and nephews; cousins; and extended family that are remembered at this time. Our mom, Mary, was preceded in death by our dad, her husband, of over 57 years. She never met a stranger; they were simply someone she hadn't yet talked to. She was a devoted Christian and was active in her church wherever she lived. Mom was our nurse, playmate, cook, craft-maker and more, and had a never-ending supply of the Christmas Spirit every year. She made our house wherever it was our home, along with taking care of all our aches, pains, cuts, bruises, breaks and sicknesses without complaint. Many a stray pet was given shelter in her home, along with taking care of most of the kids' numerous times. Her heart was huge for such a small person. Giving was just a part of Mom, we never knew her without that part of her always being there. She is in a place free of the aches and pains she long endured, but we will be missing her for more years than we can count. We love you, Mom. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home, 1635 N. Benton. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 10, 2008, at 10 a.m. in Mount Zion Presbyterian Church in Willard. A private interment will be held at a later date.
